One of the most notable attractions in the Arnold, MD area is the Antietam Furnace. The Furnace was constructed in 1768 to produce a wide range of goods for the Revolutionary War. The Antietam Furnace is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. At the site, you can see the remnants of the furnace including a wheel pit, building foundation, furnace stack, dam and race. A dozen houses are also located on-site.
